Cup of tea with a Queen – Ava Stanford

Maraka Queen Entrant, Ava Stanford shares a bit about herself.

MEET our Maraka Queen entrants, learn about their interests, dreams, who inspires them, even their favourite food and what it would mean to be crowned 2021 Maraka Queen.

Introducing our sixth Maraka Queen entrant, Ava Stanford. Ava is 20 years old and works at the Palms Aged Care Home. She is also studying nursing full time at CQU.

We had the chance to catch up with Ava and get to know a little more about her over a cup of tea. So, join us. Make yourself a cuppa, sit back and enjoy getting to know Ava. 

Favourite colour: Pink.

Favourite food: Lasagne.

Hobbies/Interests: Reading books, relaxing with family and friends and going to different places.

Favourite TV show/series: Many. Currently it’s Shadow and Bone.

Where did you go to school? Gilroy Santa Maria College

What made you decide to be a Maraka Queen entrant? I was asked by a friend and thought it would be fun.

What would it mean to be crowned 2021 Maraka Queen? It would mean I would be able to have an active role in my community and give back to those who work so hard in our community.

What have you enjoyed most about the Maraka Queen experience so far? Getting dressed up and meeting the girls.

What do you love most about living in Hinchinbrook? The relaxed way of life, and beautiful scenery

What is your fondest memory growing up in the district? Getting flooded during the wet season and having days off school!

What’s your favourite place to visit in the Hinchinbrook Shire? Wallaman Falls.

What’s your favourite place to visit in the world? Bathurst, NSW. My nana’s house.

What would be your ultimate holiday? Somewhere overseas.

What is your greatest achievement to date? Completing my second year of nursing and buying my new Rav 4.

Who inspires you? My Nan. 

What are your dreams/plans for the future? To finish my nursing degree and travel.
