Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises that the Anabranch Bridge remains closed at this stage.
Although the river height has dropped and water is no longer over the bridge, Department of Transport and Main Roads structural engineers are required to inspect the pylons and associated infrastructure to ensure safety conditions are met prior to the reopening of the road.
Council is working closely with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to ensure the safe opening of the bridge as soon as possible.
Council have been advised that Department of Transport and Main Road structural engineers are scheduled to inspect the bridge at 11.00am today with the road expected to be opened shortly after this.
Further updates will be provided as they come to hand.
