Just under 167,000 tonnes of cane were crushed for the week, bringing the season-to-date total to 3.74M tonnes.
Falls of between 35mm and 170mm across the Herbert district disrupted harvesting and crushing operations.
There was a slight decrease in CCS levels with the season-to-date now sitting on 12.73 units.
It is envisaged that the last day of crushing for the Herbert will be this Wednesday, 24 November.
There was a serious collision between a vehicle and a fully-laden locomotive at an occupational crossing in the Abergowrie area on Friday.
The incident serves as a reminder that cane trains can’t swerve and they can’t come to a quick stop.
Although the crushing season is coming to an end, locomotive movements will continue over the next few weeks for cane bin maintenance activities.
Please continue to approach all cane rail crossings with caution.
