Townsville crime wrap June 12

Drug charges, Hyde Park

At approximately 4.20 am today (June 11) police intercepted a man walking along Charters Towers Road. Police conducted a search and located two clip seal bags containing white crystals in the man’s backpack.

A 49-year-old Rosslea man was issued with a notice to appear at the Townsville Magistrate Court on June 30.

Drug driving, Shaw

A 46- year- old Deeragun man has been issued with a notice to appear for drug driving.

At approximately 4.14am, a ford falcon was intercepted on Shaw Road for the purpose of a roadside drug test (RDT).

The driver provided a positive result roadside and was detained for further testing to which the man provided another positive result. The man was issued with a 24 hour licence suspension notice along with a saliva analysis notice.

He is due to appear at the Townsville Magistrate Court on July 27.

Drink driving, Cordelia

On June 10 at approximately 9.20pm, police were conducting patrols along Eddleston Drive, Cordelia when they intercepted a Toyota Landcruiser for the purpose of a roadside breath test (RBT).

The male driver provided a positive roadside result and was transported to Ingham Police Station for further testing. As a result, the driver returned a positive result of 0.162 per cent BAC. Further checks conducted revealed the man was on his P plates.

As a result, a 32-year-old Cordelia man was issued with a Notice to appear for the Ingham Magistrate Court on June 17 along with an immediate driver’s licence suspension notice.

Enter premises and stealing, Thuringowa Central

A 14-year-old Wulguru boy has been charged with multiple offences.

At approximately 1.15am on May 29, it is alleged the boy attempted to gain entry to a house in Mount Louisa. The boy then attended the veranda and attempted to force open the glass screen door however was again unsuccessful.

At approximately 7.50pm on June 8, it is alleged the boy entered several stores in Thuringowa Central which were closed at the time. The boy jumped counters and removed two mobile phones, a set of keys along with food and drink items before running out of the centre.

The boy was arrested at an address in Heatley a short time later and transported to Townsville Watchhouse and objection to bail was submitted. He is due to appear at Townsville Magistrate Court later today.
