Request for Feedback on the Dungeness Carpark, Upcoming Events and Summer Reading Club Winners Announced

Dungeness Carpark Line Marking – Request for Feedback

Bitumen sealing works at the Dungeness Carpark have commenced with the carpark scheduled to reopen by Saturday 26 February 2022, weather permitting.

As part of the Dungeness Carpark works, Council is requesting feedback on the proposed line marking plan.

A copy of the line marking plan can be downloaded from Council’s, website, Public Consultation page.

Feedback is required by 5.00pm Wednesday 2 March 2022 which can be emailed to  

Forrest Beach Clean Up Australia Day Event – Sunday 6 March 2022

Council is stepping up to clean up this Clean Up Australia Day with a clean up event at Forrest Beach.

You can register by following the link below, or you can register at the site on the day.

Time:       8.00am to 10.00am

Where:    Vince Corbett Park Forrest Beach

Participants are able to arrive and collect bags for litter at the registration desk at any time between 8.00am and 9.00am. All bags need to be returned for disposal at the registration desk by 10.00am.

Please remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle and closed-in shoes.

This is a COVID Safe event. Participants are encouraged to keep distance from other participants.

Ingham Walk-in COVID-19 Testing Clinic

Residents are advised that Queensland Health is running a Walk-in COVID-19 Testing Clinic located at the TYTO Conference and Events Centre.

Available clinics:

  • 9.00am – 11.00am Wednesday 23 February 2022; 
  • 9.00am – 11.00am Thursday 24 February 2022; and
  • 9.00am – 11.00am Friday 25 February 2022.

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for Ages 5 and Up

A COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for ages 5 and up will be visiting the TYTO Conference and Events Centre at 10.00am – 3.30pm Saturday 26 February 2022.

Summer Reading Club Winners

Two young Hinchinbrook Shire residents became Summer Reading Club legends over the December January school holidays.

Elena and Albin Alapatt Daigjo participated in an extraordinary number of online challenges, earned badges and were instrumental in the Hinchinbrook Shire Library finishing tenth in over a hundred libraries throughout Queensland. Council congratulates Elina Alapatt Daijo and Albin Alapatt Daijo on winning first and second prize in Hinchinbrook Shire Library’s Summer Reading Club prize draw.

The Summer Reading Club is a fun, free program delivered annually by the State Library of Queensland online and in public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres across Queensland to encourage children to keep reading through the summer.

Rotary Park Fountain

Thursday 17 February 2022 saw the Rotary Park fountain dyed blue to acknowledge the Youth Insearch Foundation’s ‘End Youth Suicide Week’ from Monday 14 to Friday 18 February 2022.

The campaign encourages Australian’s to defy the stigma associated with mental health and start open conversations about suicide among friends, families and communities, to spread hope and save lives.

MAK Media Wrap Up

Last week Townsville’s Advertising  Agency and Media Specialists, MAK Media presented two digital advertising workshops proudly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Wednesday 16 February 2022 saw 20 participants cover the entire Facebook advertising process.

On Thursday 17 February 2022 locals took a crash course in YouTube advertising. The  12 participants  learnt the ins and outs of creating a YouTube campaign and how to service video ads to viewers.
