As part of a revamp of the Bulk Waste Support Program, eligible residents are now able to access assistance with removing large items from their home for disposal all year round.
Previously the program was only available for a short period of time on an annual basis. However, delivery of the program will still be conducted by the Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre.
‘As a result of the many requests for assistance received from residents outside of the defined program timeframes, Council has decided to make the program available throughout the full year. This way eligible residents can receive support when they most need it,’ said Cr Lancini.
Acceptable items include white goods, furniture (such as tables, chairs, wardrobes, shelving units), beds and/or mattresses, large electronic waste (such as televisions, computers), batteries and any other waste that may be deemed acceptable upon registration with the Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre.
Unacceptable waste items include green waste, household waste (such as food and other waste able to be disposed of in wheelie bins), car bodies, chemicals, flammable liquids, tyres and building and construction material.
To register, please contact the Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre on 4776 1822.
